CAPITAL DETACHMENT #148

 

FAMILY SERVICE TEAM PROGRAM

 

PURPOSE

 

The purpose of this program is to provide assistance to our Marine Corps Families who have men / women serving during a time of war, or activation as declared by the President of the United States. Assistance to be provided will be dictated by need and can include transportation, home repairs such as electrical, plumbing, roof, etc, food and clothing needs are also included in this program. Area of service shall be described as that given our detachment under Department of Michigan Marine Corps League guidelines or rules. Organization direction and control shall be the sole responsibility of the Capital Detachment and is not sanctioned or directed by the Department of Michigan Marine Corps League.

 

SERVICE TEAM COORDINATOR

 

Coordinator for this program shall be the Commandant of the Detachment who shall appoint an assistant who will coordinate and direct the program in the absence of the Commandant. The Commandant shall be responsible for all press releases and other news concerning the Family Service Program.

The Detachment Commandant shall direct the Detachment Paymaster to establish a Family Service Program donation account, at a local bank to be selected at the April, 2003 meeting of the Detachment. The Detachment Paymaster shall report on this account each month and direct thank you cards to all persons or business making donations. News information regarding this fund shall be released immediately after the account has been opened.

All communities that fall in the detachments area of control shall have a Community Service Team Leader, and all families who reside in that community will be eligible for the services provided by the program.

 

 

 

COMMUNITY SERVICE TEAM LEADER

 

Community service team leaders will direct and control those members of the detachment who have volunteered to serve as team members. They shall keep and maintain a phone list of all volunteers in their community. This list shall be forwarded to the Service Team Coordinator and be updated as necessary by the community Service Team Leader. They will seek out and encourage assistance from local business people, and encourage the community to donate funds toward the program. They shall report to the service team coordinator each time they respond to a need.

 

FAMILY SERVICE TEAM

 

Family service teams will be made up of Capital Detachment Marine Corps League membership and any one who wishes to assist by volunteering and filling out the necessary volunteer form.

 

 

SERVICE TEAM RESPONSE FORM

 

All members of the service teams will fill out in detail the form provided, showing the service provided and the team members involved in providing this service. A copy of this form shall be submitted as soon as possible to the service team coordinator.

These forms will assist the detachment in maintaining a full accounting and record of our Family Service Teams actions and assist us with planning for the future.

Community Service Team Leaders shall receive training and direction in how this form is to be used and filled out. They then shall train and inform their respective team members.

 

CIVIL LITIGATION FORMS

 

Prior to any work being preformed or assistance given, by a Family Service Team or Team member the person receiving benefit of the service or work will sign and acknowledge a form relieving the Team or Member from any civil action as a result of the services provided. This form shall be completed and signed before any work is to be preformed.
